Deliverance from Temptation and Deception

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Lord, deliver us from fear, bitterness, the lust of the eye, the desire of the flesh. Strengthen us to overcome and endure temptation. Open our eyes to see your way of escape.  Enable us to, in love, obey your word. Bring to our minds in the hour of temptation the exact bible verse that speaks to our situation, the exact truth that will set us free. I pray we would confess to you our weakness in that hour and seek your strengthen.

Let us be convinced in our own minds to walk in the Spirit rather than following blindly after the appetites of the Flesh. Let us be on guard for temptations that come to us even in the church.

*Equip us, Lord, for work in the ministry and building up the body. Grow us to full maturity in Christ, so that we may no longer be children tossed to and throw by the waves and every wind of doctrine. Grow us in wisdom so we will no longer be prey to human cunning, craftiness, or wicked schemes.  When we encounter such deception amongst your people, teach our tongues to instead speak the truth in love as we grow up in every way in You. May we be motivated, not by fear, not by the desires and hungers of the flesh, not by worldly philosophies and ideas, but by love as you defined it.

May we be no longer darkened in our understanding and futile in our thinking. Deliver us from hardness of heart that makes us ignorant of your truth, lest we be alienated from the life of God. Soften our hearts, that we might not become callous as are those who claim your name, but are greedy to practice every kind of impurity. Enable us today to put off our old self, which is corrupt through such decietful desires. Renew us in the spirits of our minds so that we might put on the new self created in the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

In Jesus name we pray, Lord, Amen.
