Jesus, you are the word whom John’s gospel tells us was with God in the beginning and that you are God. All things were made through you, and without you, nothing was made. Life is in you, and the life is our light. Your light shines in darkness, and the darkness has not overcome you.
You have come into the world, and was in the world, which was made through you, yet the world did not know you. You came to your own people, but they did not receive you. Just as we often face rejection, so did you, and I praise you that you understand and can identify with our experiences. You are not a God afar off, but with us, knowing our hurts and our pain.
I thank you, Lord, that we who have received you and believe in your name have been given the right to become children of God. Thank you, Lord, that you have accepted us and given us a place in your family. May we find peace in knowing we were born into your family, not of blood or will of the flesh, but of You, God. You knew us from eternity and have chosen us as your own.
Lord, when you, the Word, became flesh and dwelt among us, the apostles saw your glory face to face. May we who have not known you face to face, by faith, see your glory today, and may we not forget you are the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. May we receive today grace upon grace as promised, and we thank you for it, and we rejoice that you have made the Father known to us, and that He himself loves us. Enable us today, to be full of both grace and truth, and extend both grace and truth to those around us.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
