On Fornication:
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.-1. Corinthians 6:18
The Bible is clear that premarital sex is wrong. While media and pop culture may say otherwise, it shall pass away, yet “Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:18)
There are many reasons for this, Paul’s 1st Century observation has been borne out by painful 20th century evidence as 1 in 4 Americans now have a sexually transmitted disease after the 1960s “Sexual Revolution”.
Most of America’s horrific 40 million abortions were results of fornication. King David, the man after God’s own heart became a murderer in order to cover up his sin. (1 Samuel 11). Fornication breeds more sins with a greater and greater depth of depravity.
The Bible declares, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. “-Genesis 2:24. When we have sex with anyone other than our spouse, we are robbing them, for God intended us to keep ourselves for our spouse and our spouse alone.
There’s another reason for this. A wise man named Agur wrote 1 chapter in the book of Proverbs, in this chapter he declares, “There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not…and the way of a man with a maid.”-Proverbs 30:18,19
God intended the marital relationship to be a private place between husband and wife, a place where they experienced each other in ways that no one else ever would. It’s a wonder and a thing that those who are celibate or single “know not.”
Our culture encourages us to be voyeuristic and to behold more and more explicit material. This ruins the mystery of human sexuality. In times past, movies were cleaner. “Gone With the Wind” is a classic movie that’s rated G, yet discussed sexuality discreetly and respectfully. It didn’t flash it upon the screen. It left the mystery in it. When we commit fornication, we destroy the mystery, and do damage to our future intimate world with our own spouse.
On Homosexuality: ” Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”-Lev. 18:21
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,” -1. Corinthians 6:9
In Corinthians, the words “effeminate” and “abusers of themselves” with mankind refers to homosexuals and boys who allowed homosexuals to abuse them.
In the Old and New testament, the bible is clear that homosexual conduct is against God’s will. Is God merely arbitrary or intolerant? Every commandment in the Bible is given for our good. So if God gave us the commandment, he had a reason.
We see several evidences from secular scholars as to why homosexuality is wrong. Public acceptance of homosexuality is a sign of societal decay and decline and no society that has accepted it has survived very long.
In addition, the homosexual lifestyle is an unsatisfied life full of pain. Suicide rates are markedly higher among homosexuals than among heterosexuals. While Homosexual activists write this off as a result of heterosexual intolerance this is even the case in such liberal places as San Fransisco.
In addition, while homosexuals are clamoring for the right to marry, this avoids the painful truth that there is rarely any satisfaction in homosexual relationships. It’s not unheard for some homosexuals to have 100s of partners in the course of their lifetime.
In addition, if turned out there is a gene that predisposes a person to develop homosexual tendencies, this would correlate with the fact that homosexual inclinations are one of many symptoms of childhood sexual assault (which doesn’t necessarily include physical contact, and is not always remembered, especially if it occurred in early childhood). Thus, if we do ever find a “gay gene” it would only explain why some childhood sexual assault victims develop homosexual tendencies and some don’t. Nor would such a discovery make homosexual tendencies normal any more than genes predisposing you to develop cancer makes having cancer a healthy condition.
Examining the way the homosexual lifestyle plays out, the high occurrence of depression, STDs, and dissatisfaction, we understand why the Bible spoke so firmly against it. Jesus tells us, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).
Today, Jesus offers something better than gay pride. He offers you grace, forgiveness, and freedom from the power of sin and death. Christ has healed the wounds of many former homosexuals, who are now free from the sin that once enslaved them, and he can do this for you, too.
Now, it’s true that some don’t find full freedom until Heaven. If you’re struggling here on Earth, remember, it is no more a sin simply to have same sex attractions than it is for a married man to be attracted to other women. Temptation only becomes sin when we act upon it. Like with any other sin we struggle with, if you stumble and fall, repent, dust yourself off, and get going with the Lord again.
On Pornography:
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. -Matthew 5:27, 28 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. -Philippians 4:8
Pornography is written to incite us to lust and it is lust that leads to sexual sin. Looking out his window at the bathing wife of one of his mighty men of valour, David didn’t intend to commit adultery and murder, while bringing God’s judgment on his house, but he did. So too many men stumble into pornography and find themselves driven deeper and deeper into the depths of human depravity.
Adultery
I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. -Matt. 5:32
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
Malachi 3:13-16
Adultery is one of the most serious sins that anyone could committ. In today’s modern church, we may view adultery as a “normal sin” aand homosexuality as perversion but Paul listed the adulterer and the homosexual together, telling us that neither would enter the Kingdom of God.
Next to our covenant with God, no promise is more sacred than that made between man and wife. As shown in Malachi, the amount of adultery and “treachery” by the men of Israel stopped God from accepting their sacrifices. “Men of God” who believe they can serve both God and the lust of the flesh would do well to read what the Bible has to say.
Sex in Marriage
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. -Hebrews 13:4
Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.-1 Corinthians 7:3-5
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. -Proverbs 5: 18
God has no problem with marital sex. In fact it is His plan and pleases him. As much as the Bible roundly condemns sexual immorality of all sorts, God has blessed the marriage bed. God’s perfect will for those of us who are married is to continue in love one towards our spouse, this the Bible declares “honourable in all” and “undefiled”.
