This release from Tricia Goyer boasts on it’s cover that it’s, “A Savvy Parent’s Guide to Getting it Right.” I don’t know about savvy, nor am I sure I’m even in the right generation to be reading this book, as I’m right on the cut off point (the story of my life), though I am sure I’m not a parent (not by choice), it’s definitely a guide to getting it right. Some familiar with my convictions might be surprised I’d say that, considering the book is organized around popular song titles and lyrics from the ‘70s and ‘80s, which might bother some, but Goyer neverRead More →

We will be down this afternoon while I install a security upgrade to word press. Hopefully, this won’t go on more than twenty-four hours, and this post will still be here when we’re back up. Pray for me…. In the meanwhile, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is touring Pagan’s Nightmare by Ray Blackston. I haven’t yet gotten the opportunity to read it, so I can’t give a proper review or recommendation, but I must admit it does sound intriguing. Hopefully, I’ll get a copy here and be able to chime in. Update: It looks like everything went smoothly, praise the Lord. We should be goodRead More →

We got this one in our comments section from Sara Rodriguez on January 5, 2007 Hi Andrea, For the past 2-3 years i’ve been having a recurrent dream(at least 3-4 times). I dream that my husband and I are trying to be intimate and there’s always someone who interrupts us. It’s always someone wanting me to do something. The last one I had about 2months ago, this time it was a littleRead More →

As my regular readers probably noticed, I’ve been reading Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, primarily because I was asked to review it, and the basic synopsis sounded interesting. Coming into it, I suspected I’d find the sort of, ah, quality of literature often produced by the reigning kings on the best seller lists. He actually did fairly well in that department, all considering. Most of the questionable literary devices only a trained eye would notice or care about. While book could have benefited from another round of editing, I understand the temptation publishers have to skip that and rush an author to press when theyRead More →

We’ve all recieved, from well meaning friends, stories in our email inboxes that, are, shall we say, less than true. It takes a couple minutes to check them out at resources, such as urbanlegends.about.com, but most of us think with our hearts and not our heads. I’ll admit, the commentary attributed to Ben Stein almost fooled me, in part because I don’t particularly care who Ben is. It also turns out to be half true, unlike most internet flotsam. Ben actually did give such a commentary on CBS Sunday morning, but, the story grew as it circulated and words he didn’t actually say got putRead More →
